For the last 30 years, Mitzi Dean has been helping the most vulnerable. In a range of volunteer, front-line and executive roles in the United Kingdom and B.C., she has served thousands of youth and families who have experienced trauma and helped them re-build their lives with safety and stability.
Mitzi Dean was first elected as MLA for Esquimalt-Metchosin, the traditional territory of the Lekwungen speaking peoples, in May 2017. Prior to her appointment in 2024 as B.C.’s Minister of State for Childcare, she served as Minister of Children and Family Development. A mom and a champion for rights of equity-seeking groups, Mitzi was British Columbia’s first Parliamentary Secretary for Gender Equity.
Before her public service, Mitzi was Executive Director of Pacific Centre Family Services Association. Her leadership helped to launch a project that built a 15,000 square foot Centre for Wellbeing and a 100-unit affordable housing complex. Mitzi is a longtime resident of the Westshore.
Her constituency office team can help with range of services including help with tenant and eviction issues, housing and homelessness, public safety, and B.C. medical services. The team provides assistance to constituents on government policies and services, and can help resolve issues with provincial government agencies.
