Jeff is the Member of Parliament for Cowichan – Malahat – Langford as well as a Committee Member on the Standing Committee on National Defence. In 1989 as a newly commissioned officer in the Royal Canadian Navy he was posted to Canadian Forces Base (CFB) Esquimalt on Vancouver Island. Jeff specialized in navigation, operations and leadership. He deployed to East Timor, the Persian Gulf and commanded the Regional Joint Operations Center Pacific. After five years commanding the Navy sail training ship HMCS ORIOLE, Jeff retired with twenty eight years of service. As a veteran, remaining active in the community and advocating for his fellow veterans is of paramount importance for Jeff. He and his wife Angel, who is also a veteran herself, are active volunteers and supporters for many veterans and charitable organizations. Jeff has been a team runner for the Wounded Warrior Run, a volunteer for the Canadian Walk for Veterans and helps to raise awareness of mental health challenges in veterans caused by the anti-malarial Mefloquine. Jeff met his wonderful wife, Angel in 2010 and they quickly became dedicated residents of Langford where they've enjoyed raising their five children and becoming active community members. Jeff and Angel continue to enjoy the outdoors and embrace the natural beauty that coastal life offers.
