Arts & Culture Colwood Society provides arts and culture leadership and advocacy for our local municipality and beyond. We strive to build and enrich cultural policies and arts programing for our citizens. Our organization is new to the municipality having organized in February of 2021. The municipality we serve is experiencing a rapid growth rate in the Westshore Region but lacks direct Arts & Culture programming: hence we are embarking on filling a needed social gap for our citizens. The outpouring of community support we experienced during our first season has encouraged us to embark upon an ambitious program that will meet the diverse interests of our citizens. As we broaden the scope of our programming, we anticipate continued interest and involvement. We are currently almost an all volunteer organization and have one part time contractor for specific tasks in the coming year 2023/2024. Our membership is 160 and growing. The amount of In Kind compliments we have received over the past two years is substantial allowing us to grow fairly quickly. This In Kind value is not reflected in our current financial presentation. With the support of the City of Colwood we have received funding support for the past three years and have been providing programming to the City. We have also been successful in obtaining Community Gaming Funding from the Province for the past two years. Our Mission: To provide advocacy for the arts, being collaborative, strengthening our partnerships, connect community with the arts and delivering programming, which aligns with our values.
